Sunday Worship time–10:00 am.
This Wednesday, Lent begins with a solemn call to fasting and repentance as we begin our journey to the baptismal waters of Easter. As we hear in the readings of Ash Wednesday, now is the acceptable time to return to the Lord. During Lent the people of God will reflect on the meaning of their baptism into Christ’s death and resurrection. The sign of ashes suggests our human mortality and frailty. What seems like an ending is really an invitation to make each day a new beginning, in which we are washed in God’s mercy and forgiveness. With the cross on our brow, we long for the spiritual renewal that flows from the springtime Easter feast to come.
The Emanuel parish family extends our prayers and sympathy to the family and friends of Evelyn Rohrmoser, who passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Cards of sympathy may be sent to the family c/o CJ & Joyce Gebhardt at 5910 Bermuda Lane, Naples, FL 34119. May she rest in peace.
HOSPITALITY, INC–Beginning next Sunday, and through the 29th, our church family is hosting the Hospitality Inc. Rotating Shelter. Today, as well as next Sunday, you can find information and sign up in Luther Hall following the worship to assist in this ministry. We are still in need of a couple meals and a few more people to spend a night here at Emanuel with our guests. For those who do have a sense of call to this kingdom work, but are still a bit unsure of making the step, at 11:45 this morning Noel Niemann & Dale Fitch will be taking questions and making a presentation about assisting in a homeless shelter. For more information please contact Shawn Sroka @ 231.624.6237. (Isaiah 58:6-7)
